Green dot: Putin Residence

Ui, ui, ui, ui .…
Targets picked by Grok == better due diligence than the Israelis have in place.
Q: Region is Novgorod (Nowgorod) - what would be potentials?
- Soltsy-2 Air Base: Located near Soltsy, approximately 160 km from Valdai. It’s a significant airbase housing strategic bombers (e.g., Tu-22M3) and has been the site of confirmed Ukrainian drone strikes in the past, such as in 2023. This fits as a high-value military target in the region, with reports of damage to aircraft.
- Kotovo Arsenal (13th Arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate): Situated near Kotovo in the Okulovsky District, about 50 km from Valdai. This facility stores missiles, artillery ammunition, and possibly Iskander or North Korean-supplied systems. It was hit by Ukrainian drones in November 2024, leading to evacuations and explosions.
- Krechevitsy Airfield: Near Veliky Novgorod (about 11 km northeast), this was formerly a Russian Air Force base but is now primarily civilian. It may still have limited military utility or infrastructure.

And what was Trump told? 🙂
edit: Original WP phrasing:
The U.S. found that Ukraine had been seeking to strike a military target located in the same region as Putin’s country residence but not close by, the official said.

Define not close by.
edit: Ui, Russia released a map with flightpaths!
Green dot: Putin residence.

So, according to that 2/3 were on track for Viliky Novgorod, but one third was aiming for Kotovo Novgorod (directly above the Putin residence).
Also according to russia, about 40 drones, still had a flightpath inside Novgrorod.
Even more fun, they were probably shut down in Novgorod by the Pantsir-S1s at the Putin residence.
In fact the mean distance of every drone shot down on the russian map to Putins residence is 70km.
Uhhhm. CIA?
Miles or kilometers please? For the ones, you saw in Novgorod, but not “close by” Putins residence. Because according to the russian flightpaths ALL of the 40 drones shut down in Novgorod were close to Putins residence.
Dont leave us hanging now!
Could the CIA please be a bit more verbose on “not close by”?
