Michael McCaul, the chair of the US House foreign affairs committee, speaking after an intelligence briefing to senior members of Congress, said it was not clear at what level the warning was given.
“We know that Egypt has warned the Israelis three days prior that an event like this could happen,” McCaul, a Republican, told reporters on Wednesday. “I don’t want to get too much into classified [details], but a warning was given. I think the question was at what level.”

Journalistin: “Haben sie mit ägyptischen Nachrichtendiensten gesprochen und von ihnen Informationen bekommen?”
Tzachi Hanegbi: “Die Antwort ist nein, sie haben uns nicht gesagt - das heisst die Ägypter haben uns, oder wendeten sich nicht an uns, haben uns nicht direkt, oder indirekt etwas gesagt, also nicht durch zwingenden Auges, oder indirekt durch Flüstern. Nein. Nie passiert. Und wir hatten gar keine Kontakte, ehrlich gesagt mit ihnen, und auch Leute die manchmal in Kontakt mit ihnen, manchmal stehen - wir haben von ihnen nichts gehört - es ist Fake News, und es wurde natürlich dementiert.”

Man kennt das, ja, wenn wieder mal die AP mit einer Quelle spricht die nicht genannt werden will, und dann die Financial Times, mit zwei Quellen spricht, die bestätigen, dass ein Treffen stattgefunden hat, aber dass im Zuge dessen nur generelle Warnungen ausgesprochen wurden, und dann der Leiter des israelischen Sicherheitsrats bestreitet dass es überhaupt ein Treffen gegeben hat.

Die AP und die Financial Times haben leider durch drei unabhängige Quellen Fake news berichtet. Wie auch der Guardian - der Michael McCaul referenziert den Vorsitzenden des US House foreign affairs committee, der das Treffen ebenfalls bestätigt hat.

None of the American assessments offered any tactical details or indications of the overwhelming scope, scale and sheer brutality of the operation that Hamas carried out on October 7, sources say. It is unclear if any of these US assessments were shared with Israel, which provides much of the intelligence that the US bases its reports on.
