Ich habe ges­tern auf ein The Gray­zo­ne video repli­ziert, aber AP und WP Ori­gi­nal­quel­len ver­linkt - ohne auf The Gray­zo­ne als Quel­le ein­zu­ge­hen, da es bei mir fälsch­li­cher­wei­se mit The Inter­cept asso­zi­iert wor­den ist. 

Heu­te bei der erneu­ten Auf­ar­bei­tung bin ich auf deren Wiki­pe­dia Arti­kel gesto­ßen, der sich liest wie - naja wie soll ich sagen, muss man sel­ber lesen:

Gray­zo­ne ist kei­ne Quel­le die ich nor­ma­ler­wei­se nut­ze und wur­de von mir ges­tern das ers­te Mal über­haupt im Blog ver­linkt. Was ihr repor­ting wie es vom wiki­pe­dia Arti­kel geframt wird betrifft, bin ich bei­na­he aus­schließ­lich immer ande­rer Mei­nung als The Gray­zo­ne als Plattform.

dass in dem Wiki­pe­dia Arti­kel “and [Gray­zo­ne] publis­hed pro-Russian pro­pa­gan­da during the Rus­si­an inva­si­on of Ukraine.[31]” ver­merkt ist. Mit der Erwei­te­rung, dass sich Russ­land in UN Brie­fings, bereits auf das Repor­ting der Platt­form gestützt habe.

Der Tweet ist immer noch online, wir sehen also der Aka­de­mi­ker hat ihn nicht zurück­ge­zo­gen. Der von ihm ver­link­te Gray­zo­ne Arti­kel beschäf­tigt sich mit fol­gen­dem Umstand:

The sup­po­sed bom­bing took place just as Ukrai­ni­an Pre­si­dent Volo­dym­yr Zelen­sky appealed to US Con­gress for a no fly zone, fue­ling the cho­rus for direct mili­ta­ry con­fron­ta­ti­on with Rus­sia and appar­ent­ly inspi­ring Pre­si­dent Joseph Biden to brand Vla­di­mir Putin, the Rus­si­an pre­si­dent, as a “war criminal.”

A clo­ser look reve­als that local resi­dents in Mariu­pol had war­ned three days befo­re the March 16 inci­dent that the thea­ter would be the site of a fal­se flag attack laun­ched by the open­ly neo-Nazi Azov Bat­tali­on, which con­trol­led the buil­ding and the ter­ri­to­ry around it.

Civi­li­ans that escaped the city through huma­ni­ta­ri­an cor­ri­dors have testi­fied that they were held by Azov as human shiel­ds in area, and that Azov figh­ters deto­na­ted parts of the thea­ter as they retrea­ted. Des­pi­te claims of a mas­si­ve Rus­si­an airstrike that redu­ced the buil­ding to ashes, all civi­li­ans appe­ar to have escaped with their lives.

Video of the attack on the thea­ter remains unavail­ab­le at the time of publi­ca­ti­on; only pho­to­graphs of the dama­ged struc­tu­re can be view­ed. The Rus­si­an Minis­try of Defen­se has denied con­duc­ting an airstrike on the thea­ter, asser­ting that the site had no mili­ta­ry value and that no sor­ties were flown in the area on March 16. 

Es exis­tie­ren kei­ne unab­hän­gi­gen Quel­len, es exis­tie­re kei­ne Video Mate­ri­al, die Bil­der die extis­tie­ren legen nahe, dass der Bun­ker unter dem Thea­ter nicht ein­ge­stürzt ist und zumin­dest dort nie­mand ums Leben kam (die Ukrai­ne hat danach Opfer­zah­len ver­öf­fent­lich). Soweit stimmts erst mal. Dar­auf hin der Wiki­pe­dia Artikel:

“Refu­gee from #Mariu­pol says mili­tants from Azov natio­na­list bat­tali­on, while retrea­ting, blew up the city dra­ma theat­re, whe­re the­re were civi­li­ans, whom they used as human shield,” the tweet read. “Mili­tants also deploy­ed mili­ta­ry equip­ment near bomb shel­ters and resi­den­ti­al buildings.”

The woman is not iden­ti­fied, and Polygraph.info was unab­le to con­fi­dent­ly trace her whe­rea­bouts using visu­al search or geo­lo­ca­ti­on tools.

Rus­sia has a histo­ry of using “actors” in Ukrai­ne to sell sto­ries about alle­ged atrocities.

Polygraph.info nennt hier also die Quel­le (“the Rus­si­an Embas­sy in the U.K. pos­ted a video in which a pur­por­ted “refu­gee” from Mariu­pol spo­ke on came­ra about the thea­ter attack.”), The Gray­zo­ne nennt sie nicht [schlecht]. Die Über­schrift des Poly­graph Arti­kels lau­tet jedoch: “No Veri­fia­ble Evi­dence of Fal­se Flag Attack on Mariu­pol Thea­ter” - ergo debunkt ist gar­nichts. Das Pro­blem ist wie­der die Quellenlage.

Aber das Pro­blem ist auch die Quel­len­la­ge in die ande­re Rich­tung, denn in Mariu­pol waren zu die­sem Zeit­punkt kei­ne Jour­na­lis­ten mehr, das letz­te Jour­na­lis­ten Team ist ja mit Cher­now dank Vla­di­mir dem Hand­ler vom Poli­zei­haupt­quar­tier Donezk Regi­on in einem Hyun­dai aus der Stadt getingelt.

Glei­ches Recht für alle? Dh. frag­wür­di­ge Fak­ten­la­ge, glau­ben wir lie­ber nichts? Weit gefehlt, denn wenn Tim Hay­ward, Uni­ver­si­ty of Edin­burgh einen bis heu­te nicht zurück­ge­zo­ge­nen Tweet publi­ziert, dass die Fak­ten­la­ge dünn ist, dann ist das selbst­re­dend “hoch problematisch”.

Gut, dafür dass hier ein poli­ti­cal sci­en­tist etwas pos­tet, und nicht zurück­zieht hat man hof­fent­lich mehr Mate­ri­al um den poli­ti­cal sci­en­tist als unmög­lich und man­gel­wer­tes Exem­plar sei­ner Zunft zu cha­rak­te­ri­sie­ren, nicht? Klar hat man das.

Hay­ward had pre­vious­ly spread pro-Assad dis­in­for­ma­ti­on and con­spi­ra­cy theo­ries pro­mo­ted by Rus­sia that clai­med video evi­dence docu­men­ting Syria using che­mi­cal wea­pons on its own citi­zens had been fabricated.

Jetzt is es aber so, dass die Redak­ti­on der Anstalt das eben­falls getan hat. Im ZDF. Im Jahr 2015. Bezug­neh­mend auf ein Gut­ach­ten eines MIT Rese­ar­chers das wie­der bei The Times nie­mand gele­sen hat.

US is deli­vering the bombs (all indi­ca­tors from what we see of frag­ments seem to con­firm it, of cour­se offi­cial con­fir­ma­ti­on is unavailable).

US is the sole obsti­cle to a cea­se fire, in the UN secu­ri­ty coun­cil, wate­ring down the UN reso­lu­ti­on to some­thing that pro­mi­ses (much) more aid, but then no con­di­ti­ons (cea­se fire) to deli­ver it. Becau­se the US nego­tia­ted the cea­se fire out of the declaration.

Which for the Aus­tri­an “Pro­fil” was amp­le enough rea­son to never talk to the rus­si­an side in this war ever again. Becau­se - as Armin Wolf put it - the accu­sa­ti­on that the attack was sta­ged was so pro­ble­ma­tic and off-putting, you just couldnt inter­view rus­si­an ambassa­dors any­mo­re, from then on out. [In the grey­zo­ne video lin­ked below, that attack is still con­si­de­red “high­ly ques­tion­ab­le”, but Armin Wolf knows best. What a solid guy.]

Any day now, aus­tri­an media will refu­se to inter­view US ambassa­dors. Any day now. I’m sure of it. It must be the case… Logic dic­ta­tes it. Surely. Any day now.
